Richard’s Homemade Syrup

My Dad (Richard), came up with this recipe quite a while ago.  I just recently started making it much to the delight of my girls.  If you like a stronger maple flavor, feel free to add a little more maple syrup!

Makes about 1 quart

1 cup EACH dark brown sugar and light brown sugar

1 1/2 cups corn syrup

1 tablespoon plus 1 teaspoon pure maple syrup

1/4 teaspoon salt

3/4 cups water

Mix all ingredients together in a saucepan and bring to a boil over medium heat.  Remove from heat as soon as it reaches a boil.  Store on shelf or refrigerate and heat before use.  Please note, this will be slightly thicker than typical syrup, you can warm it prior to serving to thin it out a little bit.
